Nowadays watching TV has become part of people’s life in most families. Although there are many excellent programs for children, many people feel it harmful for them. There are several reasons for this. First, some programs are not good for children to watch. Second, television can affect children’s eyesight. Third, if they watch TV too long each day, they won’t be able to finish their homework in time.　　

   So watching too much television can be harmful to children both mentally and physically. Parents should know what program the children are watching. Every coin has two sides. Children must be under control when they watch television.

Senior high school students were heavily burdened  with all kind of homework. Because of various examinations, they spent about 6.5 hours in their classrooms a day .At home about 3,5 hours were spent on their homework and therefore most of them got less than seven hours’ sleep a night with only about three hours’ free time for other things. As a result, their health was badly damaged.　　

    Now things are getting better. About 5 hours are spent in class and hours for homework are shortened to about two so that they have more hours’ sleep and also two more hours’ free time to do whatever they like.

Today  pollution has become a more serious problem to us. It means that the air, seas, rivers , and land are polluted by waste or poisonous things. It does harm not only to human beings but also to animals. 　　

   We can not have fresh air because many factories have poisonous smoke sent into the air. Beautiful parks are made dirty by plastics tins and bags.  Fish die from polluted water. It’s said that strange diseases have appeared in some places because of pollution. 　　

    I hope scientists can find ways to solve the serious problems. We are looking forward to seeing clear sky, clean rivers and beautiful parks again.

Failure is quite a common thing in our life. As long as we do things we will surely meet with difficulties. Of course, we should try our best to get over them, but in many cases, it is not easy or even impossible. Then how should we face failure ? 　　

    Different people take different attitudes towards failure. When faced with failure, some people become discouraged and lose heart. They refuse to make any further efforts. These people will probably never achieve anything in life. Some people just don’t fear failure. They firmly believe that failure is the mother of success. As a result, failure can not stop them. Here are many advantages in working part-time while you are in school. Firstly a part-time job offers you a chance to put what you have learned in school to practise and show your ability. Secondly, a part-time job makes you more independence of your family. Thirdly, your part-time job experience may be of great help to your future life and work. However, a part-time job has some disadvantages. For example, you may have to reduce your time for sleep, rest, study and other activities. And you may find it hard to keep up with other classmates in your studies.

There are differences between high school in China and that in the United States .High school in China lasts three years ,while in most US States four years .In China ,students are in fixed classes and classrooms .Every day they study hard for around 10 hours and have a solid knowledge .But in the United States,students don’t have fixed classed or classrooms and they go to their teachers’offices for classes.They spend about 8.5 hour on study a day ,They are lively and good at putting their knowledge into use .Chinese students usually take part in extracurricular activities organized by the schools and classes .However ,American students organize most extracurricular activities by themselves.

I’m writing to tell you about the discussion we’ve had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. Our opinions on this question are different. 60% of us are against the idea of collecting entrance fee, while 40% are in favor of this idea. Those who disapprove of the idea have two reasons. One is that parks are public places where people can relax themselves. Entrance fee may prevent some people from going to parks. The other reason is that charging entrance fee will make it necessary to build gates and walls, which will destroy the beautiful scenery of the city. But no matter what their parents do for the children， what becomes of the children？ Some of them really make it， but most of them want to enjoy and relax themselves and at last they are really disappointing！　　

   This proves the meaning of the saying “You can lead a horse to water， but you can’t make it drink.” That is to say： You can’t give someone all the opportunity.

The modern pace of life is just too fast. Everyday as you open your eyes in the morning, you have to move fast or you won't get things done on time. You have no time to enjoy breakfast; you have to run in order to catch a bus; you have to shout and yell to get other people moved; you have to be nervous all day long. Since what time we human become such miserable creatures? It's because of money, which can buy almost every thing in the world.With such a powerful stimulus(刺激), we people act like drug addicts and become oblivious（不在意的） to the true meaning of life.

What is your favourite colour? Different people have different answers. Red and yellow are the colours of courage. If you like yellow, or red, it means you are full of energy and have happy feeling about life. If you like gray or blue, you are a quiet person and sometimes you feel unhappy. If you love green, you are strong-minded and you wish to do everything well and want other people to see you are successful. Colours can also change our feelings. A yellow room makes us fell happier and more comfortable than a dark green one. A red dress brings warmth and adds joyful atmosphere to the festival.When factory workers wear orange they work better and harder.

In order to study for a test, the first thing I have to do is to reorganize all the notes from the class. Then I will plan my time accordingly, balancing the time for study and rest. Time for entertainment is greatly reduced to make room for more revision. And sleep cannot be neglect since it's an important source for energy. Often I will find a quiet corner in the library for study as computers and play stations at home could distract me. Also, I could call a good friend of mine to come to discuss with me about the test together, so we'll learn from each  other. This is how I study from the test, and is also I score in the exam.
