Reflection of Lesson 3 A Volunteer Teacher

In the first period, teacher meant to make full use of the listening material to practise both the Ss’ listening ability of catching the specific information and their speaking ability about doing voluntary work. By carrying lots of class activities, teacher succeeded in making the Ss active and interested in the class and getting to know the important meaning of voluntary work. Ss all have a better understanding about doing voluntary work after this class. Many of them even really intend to be volunteers. Almost all express their wish to do voluntary work if they get the chance. Still, there are some shortcomings. For example, while debating, most of the Ss were quite shy at first, and sometimes they couldn’t express their meaning quite exactly for lack of vocabulary. Fortunately, they still have enough time and chances to practise and learn.

In the second period, teacher meant to help the Ss with two things: learning to work out the grammar rules on their own and using the different forms of future tenses correctly. By creating a situation of comparing, teacher managed to make the Ss draw out the grammar rules easily. By doing some typical exercises, Ss can have a clear idea about the using of different forms to express future tense in different situation. By doing some more writing task, Ss can master the different use of different verb forms of expressing future arrangement firmly. One thing that we should pay more attention to is that teacher should explain more than one time when dealing with the exercises.
