Lesson 6 History Makers教案  

   

Teaching objectives  

1.      To practice listening for gist and for specific information.  

2.      To express opinions and to agree or disagree with other people’s opinions.  

Lead-in  

1.      Talk about different kinds of heroes/heroines we’ve introduced in the previous lessons.  

2.      Today, we’re going to talk about some other heroes in Lesson6. They can be called History Makers.  

Before you start  

1.      Get the Ss to look at the photos and name the people. Ask: Why can we call these people History Makers?  

2.      Get the Ss to finish exercise1 first, then try to get some ideas from the captions to answer the question.  

Listen to learn  

Task 1  

1.      Listen and complete the Function File.  

2.      Listen again and focus on the function of the expressions.   

Get the Ss to divide the expressions into three groups:   

Expressing opinions: I think / in my opinion / personally, I think  

Agreeing: You’re right / I agree (with you)  

Disagreeing: I don’t agree / you’re right, but  

3.      Practise using the expressions by means of a game called Lucky Partners.  

 

(1.) Don’t leak out the names .  

(2.) You have a chance to say “Pass” if it is hard for you to describe the person.      

(3.) Use the expressions from the Function File.  

Task 2  

1.        Make sure the Ss understand the key words.  

 (1) Ask the Ss to use a dictionary to help them, match the words to the definitions.

2.  Get the Ss to read the Listening Strategies and help them to get prepared before listening with the help of a table:
