Lesson 4 Virtual Tourism

Teaching aims:

1. To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing while learning about Virtual Tourism.

2. Read the text quickly to find specific information.

3. Introduce a Virtual Tourism orally with the new words in this lesson.

How to introduce a Virtual Tourism orally with the new words in this lesson.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 warming up

How much do you know aboutNew Zealand?

How many cities do you know inNew Zealand?

Have you heard of the city of Auckland and Wellington?

Which is the capital of the country?

Show the country's map, money and national flag.

Step 2 reading

Read the text and tick out the topic referred in the text

1. The history

2. Famous sights

3. Climate

4. Agriculture

5. Sports

6. Trade

7. Transportation

8. Politics

Answers: the history; famous sights; climate; sports; transportation;

Step 3 view the sights

Show some pictures referred to in the text and ask the students to guess what they are.

New Zealand has many beautiful places which you can pay a visit to.(show the students more pictures to make them enjoy its natural sights)

Step 4 language points

China has a population of 1. 3 billion.

3. with +名词v-ing

pp(过去分词)

to do (不定式)

We must settle these problems at once to prevent them from going bad.

5.as well as   和,也

He can speak French as well as Japanese.

The teacher as well as his students goes to the museum on Saturdays.

6.average  ( 名词)平均数,平均

The average of 4, 5 and 9 is 6.

(形容词)平均的

The average age of these children attending the meeting is 14.

(动词)均分

If you average 9and 5, you get 7.
