Lesson 6 Quanzhou Tianhou Temple (2)

I. Greeting

Good afternoon, boys and girls.

Last week you took the mid-term exams, right? How are the results? Have you passed all the subjects? Which subject are you best at? And which subject are you worst at? Today we are going to talk something about test, or exam or examinations. The most important test for you should be Gaokao, which means The National College Entrance Examination and is short for NEMT. The second important test for you should be Huikao, which means the Academic Test For The Ordinary High School Students. Failing to pass it, then you can not get your diploma. The third test I would like you to know is IELTS, which means International English Language Testing System. If you want to apply to foreign universities, mostly you may be required to take the test, especially in English speaking countries. The fourth test is called TOEFL, which is the Test of English as a Foreign Language. If you want to study in America, you had better take this test. The fifth is SAT, which means Scholastic Assessment Test. It is almost like our Chinese people’s Gaokao. And there are two important courses you may know. The first one is A-Level, which stands for General Certificate of Education Advanced Level. It is a test from the UK. And the last course is AP, which stands for Advanced Placement and is originated from the United Stated. After hearing these, you may think there is so much to learn, yes, so you need to race against the time and bear your goal in mind.

II. City locations.

Last time you put the sentences in order. Now we are going to learn them carefully ( according to the PPT)

 

III.  City Game. 

Case analyze:

At the very beginning, Quanzhou No. 7 High School was founded inside the Mazu Temple. Students had classes in the temple. In Quanzhou Confucius Temple, there were also places for teaching.

Discuss: What do you think of the situation that schools are inside the places of temples? It is good for teaching or not? Why?

Presentation: Your opinion and your arguments.

 

反思：

今天刚好是期中考完的第一周，所以我讲到考试的，大家都比较认真听。虽然是普高的学生，但是他们当中有些人还是要出国的，所以涉及雅思考试等，他们也挺认真的。第二部分在解读上周的那15句相对比较枯燥，但是我每一句解读后，都叫学生起来回答问题，以集中他们的注意力。第三部分讨论，他们基本都是用中文在讨论。也没有人主动起来回答问题。令人开心的是，被叫到的两位同学都用英语回答得很好！这节课上完，我的心情很愉悦，在整个课堂中，我也保持比较愉悦的心情，相信老师的这种心情会传递给学生，也会让学生喜欢。
