Lesson 2 The Mulberry Tree

I. Greeting

Good afternoon, boys and girls. How was your holiday? Did you enjoy your holiday? During the holiday, I went back to my husband’s hometown, Dongshi. It is five minutes’ drive to the sea. So we went to the seaside every afternoon. I like the relaxing holiday. How about you? Where did you go? And what did you do？

Now another five students, would you introduce yourself here and write down your Chinese name and English name on the blackboard.

Thank you. And now let’s come to our course.

II. City locations.

Can you guess what it is. Yes, it is a tree. What kind of tree is it? It is a mulberry tree with more than 1300 years. Where is it? And why is it famous? What is the legend?

According to the legend, the site of Kaiyuan Temple had been a large mulberry garden. One day, the owner, Huang Shougong, had a dream in which a monk in kasaya asked him to donate his mulberry garden to build a temple. The owner was not willing to do so and answered he'd agree only if all the mulberry trees in his garden would blossom with white lotus flowers in three days. To his surprise, three days later, white lotus flowers indeed blossomed on all the mulberry trees in the garden. Huang had to donate the garden. There is still an old mulberry tree in the west of the temple. (explain while reading)

III. City Game. 

Now we are going to play a simple game. Please turn to your desk mate and look at his or her eyes without blinking your eyes. Who blinks first loses and needs come to the front and retell the legend.

每次课备的量都很多上不完，这次量少一点，但在每个环节尽量详尽丰富一些。上一节课的游戏做一半，移到这次来上。并且把活动穿插在课程当中，而不是全部课程结束后再做游戏。
